Family Announced - Job McCully’s Family Selected

August 14, 2008 | 19

In just seven days, Ty Pennington and the designers of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and Woodhaven Homes, Inc. will be rebuilding the McCully Family’s home, creating a safe and healthy environment for the McCully Family’s son, Job.

At only 10 years old, Job McCully is an inspiration to his small town, surviving leukemia, a bone marrow and a double lung transplant. After years spent in and out of the hospital, he is still far from healthy. In March of 2008, he was finally able to leave the hospital, but for Job’s health, the family could not return to their sinking, moldy and dilapidated home. Their very old house has leaks in the roof, the air conditioner and the floor. The mildew-infested walls are especially threatening to Job and in 2006, fungus was discovered on Job’s lungs, which inspectors suspect likely came from their home. The family packed up and moved out of their uninhabitable house.

Although he has endured painful side effects from all the treatments he has received, Job still manages to smile and treat others with generosity. With all that this family has been through, they never hesitate to help those in need. His sister Nicole, at only 12 years old, learned to administer shots to her brother for the diabetes he developed from his treatments. Rob is a deacon at the church, and Tina has spear headed two successful support groups in her church for struggling young married couples and addicts. The family is currently living in a donated rental, but still struggling to pay for their mortgage. It is now up to Ty and his designers to bring the McCully family back to a place Job and his family can really call home.

Thank you for choosing this wonderful family. I too am the mom of a ten year old that has ungone cancer and a stem cell transplant. The fear of living in a home that could cause harm to your child is horrible. You all are amazing to give this family a fresh start. I hope that the blessings are returned right back to you again. caringbridge.org/visit/micahfarmer

I am deeply touched by Job’s story. I am a mother myself, and having to witness a child’s daily struggle with this type of condition is heartbreaking. It is indeed true that our Lord answers our prayers in mysterious ways. But, He also uses “angels” on earth. The people that surrounds us are the hands and the feet that our God make use of. Each of us are given an opportunity to be that hand and feet.

The questions is , how willing are we to be used?

    Dear Job,

How amazing that I happen to turned on the TV tonight to see my name show up. A few generations ago our last name was spelled JOB. just like in the Bible. The last two monts God has allowed me to undergo some surgery and other procedures that really drain and even almost took my life. Today as I sat i church for the first time in 3 month’s, I cried and cried for I was so happy and blessed to be there. My prayer for you is as you grow is that you never forget where you came from and never forget how you got there and make sure you sleep aat night. ou see my father got killed when I was two…so I do have some understanding of some life. I will be 44 years old very soon and have two girls of my own. I have been very blessed and have learned that God can do anything and has brought though this so as you go to other things as you grow that success of his criies will be heard through out. May you grow to be old and may God keep your family and you in the Palms of His Hands.

Dear Woodhaven Homes and McCully family,

I have never written anyone after watching a television show before. However, tonight’s episode changed me. I watched this episode with tears in my eyes. Not tears of sadness nor dispair but of joy and faith. My heart was immediately touched by Job. I would like Job to know that I will be praying for him DAILY. I mean that, DAILY. I realize the road that he has traveled has not been easy. Just hang on. I will be praying that God will supernaturally touch you and that you will use this as a testimony to preach to millions.

My wife and I have 4 children and attend First Assembly of God in Gainesville, FL. I know how precious children are and I believe in the miraculous healing power of God. Rob and Tina, you are such wonderful parents. I stand with you in faith for Job that his latter days will be more blessed than his former and that he will live a long, long life.

    God bless you.

    Job you pirate,

Watching Extreme Home Makeover is not a usual thing for me, but you caught my attention. I was one of many who gaped at their TV sets, amazed at your strength and courage. You have a wonderful family and from what I am able to tell are nothing but good people who deserve far more than they have worked for.

The heart in you is very inspiring for me. I do not suffer any ailment, nor can I complain of my lifestyle, but it is because of people like you and your family why I am an aspiring medical student. One day I wish to help others with their medical curses allowing them to recieve the precious moments they deserve.

I wish the best for the McCully’s, a truly exceptional family.

    Don’t ever give up.
