Final Day: “Move That Bus”

August 21, 2008 | 22

THURSDAY, AUG. 21, 9:00 P.M. - Today the McCully Family saw their new home for the first time as Ty and hundreds of volunteers and spectators directed the bus driver to “move that bus!” The entire community was excited to see the limo come up the street and watched the joyful reaction of the family as they moved the bus knowing they gave of themselves to help others.

This has been an incredible experience. We’ve heard so many people who volunteered talk about how good they felt being part of it. Everyone was proud to be part of this exciting project.

I hope Job and his family will create many fond memories in their new home over the years.

First of all I would like to say how GRATEFUL I am that I got to be a part of of this WONDERFUL journey! I met so many GREAT people along the way!!!! (And by the way, Jack you are the best!!!!) I went there not knowing the McCully family personally - I just wanted to do something good for someone — but I came out of this feeling like I knew them and all of their wonderful family and friends! There was alot of hard work and alot of long hours put in by everyone — but the days that we spent there were MORE than worth it when that bus moved and we saw the look of complete gratitude on the families faces!!!!! I thank all of the special people that helped out and were so great !!!! And I thank God that I was able to be a part of all of this! My thoughts and special prayers go out to the McCully family - they will forever have a special place in my heart! WELCOME HOME MCCULLY FAMILY ….. WELCOME HOME!!!!!

It has been an awesome week to be just a tiny little part of something so big as building a good, healthy home for Job and his family. Every day, I could see God’s hand in providing whatever was needed to continue the job that Florence and her friends had started for this family. I looked forward to every moment I could volunteer in some small way with all the many other wonderful volunteers and I always hated it when I had to leave for some rest.

Jack and his team of builders were so humble and compassionate. The love and care poured into the McCully’s home was outstanding. Many thanks to the Extreme Makeover Team for a job “well done” to a very special and deserving family! I’ll never forget the looks on their faces when we yelled “Move That Bus” and they saw their beautiful home for the first time. May God continue to bless them and hold precious Job in his hands. WELCOME HOME MCCULLY FAMILY — WELCOME HOME!!!!
